Sugar cube is one of the oldest products that human could obtain from nature. More than 2,000 years ago, people living in India discovered how to make sugar cube from sugarcane. Europeans noticed sugar cube during the Crusades.
At first, sugar cube was very little and even used as a medicine, but today it is considered an economical food.
Notice that when we talk about sugar cube, we mean more than 100 types of sugars, all of which are chemically the same. All sugars are made up of the following three elements:
- Carbon Element
- Hydrogen Element
- Oxygen Element
Carbon levels may change, but Hydrogen and Oxygen should always be in the ratio of two to one. Thus, chemically, sugar cube is a type of carbon hydrate.
Sugar produces heat and energy in the human body and also causes human growth. Human get sugars through lactose, fructose, glucose and sucrose. In other words
Lactose is milk sugar, which enters our body when we drink milk.
Fructose is the sugar we get from eating the fruits.
Glucose is a sugar obtained from vegetables and grains, as well as from potatoes.
Sucrose is the most common sugar we consume and is made from beets or sugarcane.
