A billet is a solid block of aluminum (or any material) with the size depending on the size of your desired part. The larger the desired part, the larger the billet. Contrary to casting, billet parts are created by removing excess material from the billet, essentially the part is carved out of solid aluminum.
Extrusion is the process of shaping aluminium by forcing it to flow through a specifically shaped opening in a die. The extruded aluminium comes out as an elongated piece with the same profile as the die opening.
Extrusion ingots are widely used in:
- Extrusion industry
- Construction industry (for windows and door frames)
- Transportation (which are produced from hard alloys)
- Engineering (which are produced from hard alloys)
- Building and kitchen suite sections (which are produced from soft alloys)
The quality parameters for extruded products such as, surface quality, mechanical properties and the inherent metallurgical features are achieved in the production process.
